Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A Custom Rug Serger job involves operating serger sewing machines to finish the edges of custom-made rugs, ensuring a clean, durable, and aesthetically pleasing border. This role requires skilled operation of the machinery, attention to detail, and potentially other tasks related to rug fabrication and finishing. 
 
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating Serger Machines:
Proficiently using serger machines to apply a yarn edge finish to custom-cut rugs. 

  • Material Handling:
Working with various rug materials, potentially including cutting, gluing, and assembling different layers. 

  • Quality Control:
Inspecting finished rugs to ensure the serged edge meets specifications and quality standards. 

  • Workplace Organization:
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols. 

         Collaboration:
Potentially working with other team members to improve processes and efficiency. 

  • Following Instructions:
Carefully reviewing work orders and adhering to specific instructions for each rug. 

  • Additional Tasks:
Depending on the specific role, tasks may include cutting rugs to custom sizes, and preparing rugs for shipment. 
 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Serger Machine Experience: Prior experience with serger or overlock machines is crucial. 
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to produce precise and consistent serged edges is essential. 
  • Physical Stamina: The job may require standing for extended periods and lifting. 
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members is important. 
  • Problem-Solving: Being able to identify and resolve issues related to the serging process. 
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing time to complete tasks within deadlines. 
Variations:
  • Hand Serging:
Some roles may involve hand serging, which is a more manual process using needle and thread to create the edge finish.
